Where to Buy Sydney NYE Fireworks Tickets: Best Paid Spots (2026)

Ticketed harbour lawns, Taronga, Luna Park, island ferries and Cockatoo stays for 31 December 2026 — prices, sale dates, and when to arrive.

Where to Buy Sydney NYE Fireworks Tickets: Best Paid Spots (2026)

Paying for a Sydney New Year’s Eve vantage point buys back 31 December. Instead of holding a rug from breakfast on a walk-up free lawn, you turn up in the admission window, pass a bag check, and stay. This page is the ticketed shore list: North Sydney’s $65 parks, Taronga, the Botanic Garden picnic, Luna Park, the harbour islands, Dudley Page Reserve, and overnight stays on Cockatoo Island. Harbour sailings are a separate article: Sydney NYE fireworks cruises. Snapshot as of 6 September 2026 — prices and “booked out” labels will keep moving. The night itself is in the Sydney NYE fireworks guide.

Choose by trip type

North Sydney ticketed lawns — $65

Blues Point and Lower Bradfield Park are the two paid North Sydney sites. Upper Bradfield, Mary Booth Reserve, Lavender Bay and Cremorne Point stay free. Tickets are $65 including GST, on sale 7 October 2026. Alcohol is prohibited. Details: North Sydney Council NYE 2026.

Blues Point (including Henry Lawson Reserve)

How to get there: North Sydney station or Victoria Cross Metro, then walk down to Blues Point / McMahons Point. Limited ferries are expected from McMahons Point after midnight. Do not drive; streets close and fill.

Western Bridge night view of the kind you get from Blues Point / McMahons Point.
  • Opens / entry: North Sydney’s 2026 table lists 11am on 31 December (the same page’s venue card also lists 3pm–12:30am). Confirm on your ticket.
  • Arrive by: At the published opening — this is a ticketed afternoon start, not a dawn sit. Capacity around 8,000; no re-entry once it is full.

The park closes to the public from 7pm on 30 December. Accessible toilets, food for sale, BYO food, water stations. Wheelchair access is listed as yes, with partial ramp coverage. Dry site: security and NSW Police enforce no alcohol and no glass. Prefer a free lawn nearby? Upper Bradfield Park opens at 9am on the Milsons Point side.

Lower Bradfield Park, Milsons Point

How to get there: Milsons Point station, then walk toward Bradfield Park / Luna Park. Stay on the lower lawn — Upper Bradfield and Mary Booth are the free sites and open at 9am. North Sydney and Victoria Cross Metro also work.

The north-pylon night view from the Milsons Point shore — Lower Bradfield is the paid lawn; Upper Bradfield stays free.
  • Opens / entry: 2pm–12:30am on 31 December. Park closed to the public from 8pm on 30 December.
  • Arrive by: 2–3pm if you want a Bridge-filling patch. Capacity around 5,000 — smaller than Blues Point, so the front still goes after opening.

Classic north-pylon view without a 9am start. Wheelchair access is listed as no on the lower lawn (Upper Bradfield is the accessible North Sydney grass). Same dry-site rules: no alcohol, no glass, no re-entry, bag checks. Food for sale and BYO food allowed. Free neighbours: Mary Booth Reserve on the Kirribilli side.

Premium harbour lawns and parties

Taronga Zoo Sydney

How to get there: Bus toward Taronga Zoo / Bradleys Head Road, Mosman. If you ferry in, allow a long walk or a pre-purchased Zoo NYE car-park ticket via Prince Albert Street. There is no access into the Zoo from the Lower Entrance on the night. Return ferries currently listed at 12:54am and 1:54am.

Elevated Mosman harbour view from Taronga — Bridge and Opera House in one frame.
  • Opens / entry: Ticketed packages advertised at $125–$1,000. On sale 12pm, 10 September 2026 from Taronga. Gate hours are on the ticket, not yet a walk-up opening time.
  • Arrive by: Before the last ferry, not “after dinner”. The last ferry to the Zoo from Circular Quay is currently listed at 4:52pm. Walking up from the wharf is not recommended; the public bus that meets the ferry will not run up to the Zoo entrance because of police road closures.

Food for sale or BYO food. Alcohol for sale; no BYO alcohol, no glass, no sunshades, no camping, no drones, no pets. Bag checks. The Diamond viewing area is not accessible (stairs). A paid park is the point: you are not fighting Mrs Macquaries Point for a rug at 10am. For full inclusions go to Taronga, not a reseller screenshot.

Foundation & Friends NYE Picnic, Mare and Foal Lawn

How to get there: Entry is the Woolloomooloo Gate on Mrs Macquaries Road — about 500 metres to the picnic site. Martin Place or St James, then walk; Circular Quay Station is expected to close 3pm–midnight. Do not use the Macquarie Street gates that serve the free garden lawns.

Opera House at night from the Botanic Garden side — the Mare and Foal Lawn picnic looks this way.
  • Opens / entry: 5pm–12:15am. Woolloomooloo Gate opens 5pm and closes 8:30pm. Priority queuing (limited, paid extra) 4pm–4:30pm.
  • Arrive by: 4:45–5pm for general tickets; 4pm if you bought priority queuing. There are no ticket sales at the gate and no pass-outs.

Member $255, member’s guest $315, child 6–15 $80, 5 and under free — as of 6 September 2026. Tickets are for current Foundation & Friends members (you can buy a membership bundle). BYO picnic and a limited amount of alcohol (wine bottles only; no other glass). Family-friendly, toilets, some food trucks. Limit the rug to about four adults. Foundation & Friends picnic.

Luna Park Harbour Party

How to get there: Milsons Point station, then a short walk under the Bridge to the clown-face gates. Victoria Cross Metro is the overflow station. After midnight, expect a slow exit onto the same platforms as Lower Bradfield.

Luna Park Sydney clown-face entrance, Ferris wheel and Milsons Point ferry wharf
Luna Park on the north pylon — Harbour Party is 18+, rides and midnight fireworks.
  • Opens / entry: Gates 6pm; event until 2am. 18+ only.
  • Arrive by: 6–7pm if you want a harbour-side patch before the rides fill. VIP and Premium VIP are the reserved viewing products; general admission is the park, not a marked rug.

Unlimited rides on operating attractions, DJ stages, and a harbour fireworks view. Luna Park currently lists tickets on sale — check Harbour Party for GA vs VIP prices rather than copying last year’s figure. This is a party, not a picnic lawn: no kids, and you will be standing more than sitting. Families wanting the same north-pylon geography without an 18+ ticket should use Lower Bradfield or free Upper Bradfield.

Harbour islands — ferry ticket or overnight stay

NSW National Parks lists Clark, Shark and Goat islands as free events with a mandatory ferry. As of 6 September 2026 all three ferry allocations are booked out on the harbour NYE page. Treat that as a snapshot: waitlists sometimes move, but do not plan a trip around an island you cannot board. Goat Island has a separate closure problem — read that warning before you chase a waitlist.

Clark Island

How to get there: Meet in Lyne Park (New South Head Road, Rose Bay), next to Rose Bay ferry wharf. F7 ferry or buses 323/324/325. Ferries return from Clark at 9:20pm, then 12:30am and 1:15am on 1 January. Hand luggage only — what you can carry on your lap.

Mid-harbour fireworks over the Bridge — Clark sits in Farm Cove’s line of sight to the Bridge and Opera House.
  • Opens / entry: Event admission free; mandatory ferry $47.71 per adult/child (limited free under-5 tickets). Currently booked out. Ferries 5:45pm and 6:45pm.
  • Arrive by: Lyne Park, Rose Bay, at least 30 minutes before your ferry. If you want both 9pm and midnight, do not book a plan that relies on the 9:20pm return.

BYO picnic and a responsible amount of alcohol; you cannot buy food or drinks on the island. Bag search before boarding. All-weather. Clark Island NYE.

Shark Island (Boowambillee)

How to get there: Rose Bay ferry wharf. F7 or New South Head Road buses. You are on an island until the return boats — pack as if there is no kiosk.

Eastern-harbour night view — Shark is further out than Clark, with a wide city silhouette.
  • Opens / entry: Event admission free; mandatory ferry $47.71 per adult/child. Currently booked out. Ferries from Rose Bay at 6:15pm and 7:15pm.
  • Arrive by: Rose Bay wharf at least 30 minutes before your sailing, same as Clark.

Same NPWS pattern as Clark: picnic, bag search, ferry constraint. Check the harbour NYE page if a later allocation appears; as of 6 September it is booked out.

Cockatoo Island / Wareamah

How to get there: Public ferry to Cockatoo Island on the days your booking allows. Reduced ferries on NYE. Woolwich remains a public (free) vantage point if you are not staying on the island — see free Sydney NYE viewing spots for walk-up western-harbour lawns.

Aerial view of Cockatoo Island dry dock, industrial cranes and campground tents
Cockatoo Island’s dock and campground — NYE access is for overnight guests only.
  • Opens / entry: 31 December access only with an accommodation booking. Houses/apartments: 4-night stay $3,900–$12,000, ballot closes 2pm AEST 16 September 2026. Camping packages on sale 9am AEST 22 September (pre-sale 21 September via the mailing list), from $590 BYO tent or $690 pre-erected tent, plus booking fee, minimum 2 nights.
  • Arrive by: Houses check in from 3pm on 29 December. Campers arrive 30 December and leave 1 January unless you buy the extend-stay offer. You cannot ferry in as a day visitor on the 31st.

Entertainment and two cafes are promised on the night; menus come later. Cockatoo Island NYE stay. This is a holiday booking, not a $65 lawn ticket.

Goat Island / Me-mel — do not book yet

How to get there: would have been Barangaroo, then the event ferry. Until the contradiction is fixed, treat Goat Island as unavailable.

Western harbour between the Bridge and Balmain — Goat Island’s listed view, if it ever runs.
  • Opens / entry: listed as booked out; the closure alert has not been withdrawn.
  • Arrive by: do not plan an arrival.

If you want a western-harbour sit without that risk, use a Balmain free lawn or pay for Blues Point.

Eastern suburbs ticketed reserve

Dudley Page Reserve, Dover Heights

How to get there: Enter from Military Road near Myuna Road, Dover Heights. Buses stop within a short walk. Do not count on a taxi after 6pm. Bondi is the wrong mental map — this is the clifftop reserve, not the beach.

An elevated, distant sit over the harbour — Dudley Page is the eastern-suburbs ticketed version of this night.
  • Opens / entry: Tickets available 1 October 2026. Price not yet published on the official listing as of 6 September. Waverley describes a ticketed, family-friendly event with DJ, food stalls and a licensed bar.
  • Arrive by: Roads around the reserve close from 6pm — be on site before that, not “after dinner in Bondi”. Roads stay closed until around 2am.

BYO food; no BYO alcohol (bar on site). No glass, drones, camping, pets, sharp objects, or chairs over 80cm. Sunshades down at sunset. No re-entry. Bag checks. Official Dudley Page listing and Waverley major events.

Harbour cruises

A cruise is the other way to skip the lawn. 9pm family catamarans, midnight-only sailings, exclusion-zone dinner ships and the James Craig — with boarding points and operator prices as of 6 September 2026 — are in Sydney NYE fireworks cruises. Browse the official NYE events list rather than a reseller screenshot. Live tour cards below are current Sydney harbour inventory — NYE-specific products sell out in spring.

Free, but still not walk-up

These are not paid, and they are not on this list: Bradleys Head and Strickland Estate (free advance allocations currently booked out, with possible later general access), the Cahill Expressway ballot, and the Sydney Opera House Forecourt (bookings open 10am, 26 December 2026, entry 12pm–3pm). Wharf 3 at Circular Quay is a free accessible area for the 9pm show only. Those sit in the Sydney NYE fireworks guide. The 34 walk-up lawns are in free Sydney NYE viewing spots.

Confirm the official Sydney New Year’s Eve site before you pay. For the rest of the trip, see the Sydney destination guide, harbour walks and ferries, or search.
